The tennis world has been engulfed in a veritable storm following  Carlos Alcaraz’s offensive remarks  toward  Jannik Sinner ‘s mother , Mrs.  Siglinde Sinner , during a private event in Madrid. The episode, which went viral within hours, sparked  national outrage  in Italy and strong international criticism, casting doubt on the image of the young Spanish champion.

It all started when, according to witnesses present, Alcaraz allegedly uttered a contemptuous phrase in Spanish towards the mother of the South Tyrolean tennis player:

“We don’t side with those who trample on the pride of Italians.”

Meanwhile, the unwitting protagonist of the affair,  Siglinde Sinner , mother of the Italian number one, has maintained the calm and composure that has always distinguished her. “Respect is not taught with a racket, but with the heart.”
