Bryson DeChambeau Sends Rory McIlroy 6-Word Message After Brutal Loss at the Masters

Bryson DeChambeau was the closest to Rory McIlroy at Augusta National when he saw the latter light up the course for the last 18 holes before the playoffs. By the time they reached Holly, DeChambeau was already out of contention while McIlroy still held the top spot. While he may not have finished in the LIV Golfer’s presence, the Irishman still put on a show for his fourth-round rival all day long. However, during that time, there were very limited interactions between the two golfers. At least that is what DeChambeau claims.

In the post-round interview, Bryson DeChambeau claimed Rory McIlroy “Didn’t talk to me once all day.” Despite the bold accusation, he didn’t hesitate to congratulate the Irishman on his brilliant win. Sharing a post on Instagram, the Crushers GC captain said, “It was a battle all week, and even without my best stuff, I proved to myself that I have the ability to win this tournament one day. It’s tough, but moments like this have taught me a lot and now I’m more motivated than ever to get back to work. Thank you all for the unwavering support this week! We will be back.” He was very appreciative of the amazing support of the patrons at Augusta National. Those who saw all the action live or were at the course themselves must have noticed how loud the crowd cheered for either of the golfers after every stroke.

Finally, acknowledging the amazing achievement of his fourth-round partner, DeChambeau said, “Huge congratulations to Rory on an incredible achievement in completing the career Grand Slam of golf. He deserved to get this one.” As much tension as they had on Augusta National, the 31-year-old clearly has a lot of respect for the 2025 Masters Tournament winner for his tenacity throughout the years. This is not the first time DeChambeau has expressed his joy at watching McIlroy win. During an interview after his round, the current U.S. Open champion also mentioned how he “wanted to cry for him (McIlroy)” for his extraordinary achievement in golf.

But it’s not only Bryson DeChambeau who was thrilled about Rory McIlroy finally becoming a Grand Slam champion. The whole sports world was happy that the Irishman had finally received his Green Jacket. Let’s see who else joined in on the celebration.

Bryson DeChambeau and co. get together to congratulate Rory McIlroy

Winning the Masters Tournament was the biggest milestone for Rory McIlroy in nearly 11 years. Even longer, as he confessed to waiting for this for 18 years, ever since he turned pro in 2007. Initially being ignored, the 47th POTUS, Donald Trump, tweeted, “I have to congratulate Rory.” Trump had initially not listed McIlroy as one of his favorites to win the tournament. MLB Legend Chipper Jones also left a heartfelt message for the Irishman’s win. His tweet read, “Wanna take this opportunity to congratulate @McIlroyRory on the greatest of golf’s achievements. Had tears in my eyes watching you finally get the grand slam. You are an all timer…..and thank you for allowing me to witness it. I’m about to be 53 and I’ve seen 2. Love watching greatness….Saw greatness today!”

Even bitter rivals like Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods sang the same tune after McIlroy’s win. A close friend and co-owner of TGL with the 2025 Masters Tournament winner, the GOAT tweeted, “Welcome to the club @McIlroyRory. Completing the grand slam at Augusta is something special. Your determination during this round, and this entire journey has shown through, and now you’re a part of history. Proud of you!” McIlroy is the first Grand Slam champion since 2000 when Woods achieved the feat. Mickelson also dropped by to say, “He’s the biggest golf nerd I’ve ever come across. He knows everything about everything, he watches everything. He lets on that he doesn’t but he watches so much.” This came as a surprise considering how the two have often locked horns over the merger debate. McIlroy’s acknowledgment of LIV Golf a few weeks ago received a lot of backlash as fans demanded a public apology for Mickelson.
