Paige Spiranac sided with Rory McIlroy when calling for all sporting events to be ‘banned from phones’ – News

‘Need To Be More Affordable’: Paige Spiranac Drops Major Complaint After Her Masters Prediction Came True

The no phone policy just makes everyone so present and so into what we are doing out there on the golf course,” said Rory McIlroy during his green jacket ceremony. The Masters prohibits patrons from using mobile phones on the golf course. While some may find the rule unusual, Paige Spiranac supports McIlroy’s stance and recently shared her bold perspective on the issue along with a complaint.

It was a dream come true for the Irishman to finally win a green jacket and complete a career grand slam. However, those who witnessed his win live on the golf course had a completely different experience than those who watched it on TV. You don’t have any notifications to distract you. One can just sit calmly and take in everything the luscious greens of Augusta have to offer.

Talking about this, Paige Spiranac shared her thoughts with Sports Illustrated. “Hot take, but I wish all sporting events banned phones. It was so special to see everyone enjoying the moment and be present,” she said. Not long after this, she shared something more on her Instagram story. This time it’s about ticket prices and concerts.

She said, “I think using a phone before, half time or after is totally okay. But during the competition it should be banned. I think this rule should also apply to concerts.” “I also think ticket prices for sporting events need to be more affordable. And resell at 5x the price should be banned,” she added.

Each ticket for a Masters tournament round is priced at $450, and with the practice round included, the total comes to around $660. However, securing tickets to the first major of the season is no easy feat. So, what if someone misses out but still wants to attend? That’s where the secondary market comes in. According to recent reports from Golf Week, ticket prices on resale platforms soared as high as $26,212 (taxes and fees included).

Although Spiranac enjoyed her time at Augusta National. She believes solving issues like these can increase the overall experience. Not only that, she also suggests that other sports learn from masters and have no phone policy. Following the Irishman’s win, the golf diva shared her experience. She said, “One of the most exciting Masters. Wow! Congratulations Rory! Thank you for making today one of the most electric rounds of golf I’ve ever seen!”

Spiranac was honest about her thoughts about Masters. However, she was positive about McIlroy winning even before the start of the tournament.

Paige Spiranac has been supporting Rory McIlroy all along

With McIlory’s wins at Pebble Beach and TPC Sawgrass, pros like Billy Horschel expected him to win the green jacket this time. And he delivered. Just like Horschel, Paige Spiranac was also positive about the Irishman. Back in February this year, she was asked if Rory McIlroy would win a fifth major title this year.

Without hesitation, the golf diva said, “Yes! I am going to root for him! He’s going to get it done. Every year, I say Rory’s gonna win the Masters, and this is the year!”  Aside from her, golf legend Jack Nicklaus also had faith in him. Well, it wouldn’t be wrong to say these wonderful wishes from fraternity had a positive impact on the player.

What was your experience of the masters this year? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
