Despite a frustrating 2025 so far by Scottie Scheffler’s standards, he has has still achieved a significant milestone – joining Tiger Woods and Greg Norman in an elite club.

On Monday, Scheffler marked his 100th consecutive week as the No. 1 player in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), and became only the third player to enjoy over 135 weeks at the top, surpassing LIV Golf star and two-time major champion Dustin Johnson. However, he still has a long way to go to match Norman and Woods, who spent 331 and a record 683 weeks respectively at No. 1.

Despite a winless start to 2025, Scheffler maintains a strong lead at the top of the rankings, even as world No. 2 Rory McIlroy has enjoyed a brilliant run with victories at The Masters, The Players and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in the last three months.

The two-time Masters champion finished tied eighth at the RBC Heritage on Sunday, falling short despite a stellar bogey-free opening round of seven-under-par – as he ended five shots behind winner Justin Thomas.

Despite a lack of titles so far this season, Scheffler remained optimistic about his chances of victory after Sunday’s final round at Hilton Head Island. However, he endured a rather awkward press conference immediately after he finished up.

After finishing his final round, Scheffler was asked to attend a press conference in the mixed zone. Despite obliging, he was only asked two questions in a session that lasted barely 30 seconds.

“Well, guys, thanks. That was really valuable,” a grinning Scheffler quipped when no further questions were put forward. “That was good, that was great. Good job, everybody.”

Before the quick end to the press conference, Scheffler commented: “I did some good things. I just needed a few more shots out there, which was definitely there for the taking for me. I just didn’t quite take advantage of them.

“I think I’m really close. I feel like I did a lot of things well this week, just a few of the important shots I just didn’t pull off. Outside of that it was a pretty solid week.”

Scheffler has decided not to participate in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans doubles event this week. However, he is set to compete at TPC Craig Ranch in his hometown of Dallas for The CJ Cup Byron Nelson on May 1.

Following this, Scheffler will play in the Truist Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club before heading to Quail Hollow for the PGA Championship.
