It’s Sunday at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship and a champion has been crowned at the Black Desert Resort.
Last year was debut of this tournament and while there’s no longer a Masters invite for the winner anymore, there is still big money and lots of FedEx Cup points to be had. And there’s a new member of the PGA Tour.

Michael Brennan wins first PGA Tour title in third start
After a dominant campaign on PGA Tour Americas, Michael Brennan earned a promotion to the PGA Tour’s top developmental circuit. But he can skip the Korn Ferry Tour and head straight to the PGA Tour, just as his caddie predicted, after winning the Bank of Utah Championship on Sunday by four strokes over Rico Hoey.

David Ford is clubhouse leader after signing for 16 under but…
Ford shot a final-round 67 and is done at 16 under. He’s the clubhouse leader but he’s seven shots back of Michael Brennan, who has three to go and more importantly, hasn’t wavered all day. Still, it’s been a nice week for Ford, playing in his 13th PGA Tour event and posting by far his best finish. He had missed seven of nine cuts in 2025 with his two best finishes a T-44 and a solo 75th.
Max Homa eagles 18 for second day in a row
Homa, battling a bone spur all week, made eagle at the last for a second day in a row to shoot a final-round 67. That has him tied for 13th and more importantly, up to 93 in the points. He has said this will be his last event of the Fall series and 93rd might be enough to keep him in the top 100 for playing status for 2026.
Michael Brennan just drove a ball 401 yards at Bank of Utah
Brennan, up three shots on field as he approached the 11th tee box, just blistered his drive at Black Desert Resort an astounding 401 yards. You read that right: 401 yards.

Believe it or not, it’s not the longest drive of the day. A few minutes prior, Pierceson Coody ripped a 405-yard tee ball at the 11th hole. Sheesh.
Has a sponsor exemption ever won on the PGA Tour?
Glad you asked. Yes, it’s happened 12 times, and the list includes both Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Nick Dunlap is the most recent to do it when he won the 2024 American Express.

All groups are now on the course for final round
The final threesome of Michael Brennan, Rico Hoey and Matt McCarty are now on the first hole and after a McCarty opening bogey, Brennan’s lead is now three shots.
Who has improved their FedEx Cup Fall series standing?
Through 54 holes, Sam Ryder has climbed from 106 to 96 in the projected FedEx Cup Fall points standings. Remember that only the top 100 at the end of the fall campaign earn 2026 playing status (if not already eligible). He’s the only one for now that has improved his position. On the flip side, Patrick Fishburn is the one whose chances have been damaged. Fishburn was 98th but he missed the cut and he’s now 103rd.

What happened in the third round of the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship?
Michael Brennan is playing the third PGA Tour event of his entire career and he’s the leader by two entering the final round. Brennan got off to a rough start with a double-bogey at the second hole but bounced back with an incredible stretch where he made an eagle and five birdies on holes 7-14. He made birdie on the 18th for good measure.
“I’m obviously very happy with how I finished this round. I played very solid coming in,” Brennan said. “I felt like I maybe was a little frustrated on the third hole still and it’s something I hope to improve upon, trying not to carry it with me. I made a nice birdie on No. 4 and kept things going.”
Michael Brennan has a shot at major upgrade in status
Brennan has already earned 2026 Korn Ferry Tour status but has a chance at more:
How much money is on the line at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship?
The total purse in 2025 is $6 million (down from $7.5 from a year ago) and this year’s champ will bank a cool $1.08 million.
Where is the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship played?
Black Desert Resort in Ivins, Utah, is the host venue for a second year. The golf course was the final design of Tom Weiskopf’s career. The course has only been open for two years but has already rocketed to the top of Golfweek’s Best public-access courses in Utah. The layout has quickly climbed the rankings and is No. 1 in Utah on Golfweek’s Best list of public-access courses, No. 26 among all resort courses in the U.S. and No. 81 among all modern courses in the country.
