A 45-year-old man has been charged over Carolann Barraclough’s death

A sister of a mum “cruelly” murdered in a West Yorkshire home has set up a fundraiser to pay for her funeral.
Mum-of-three Carolann Barraclough, 37, was named as the woman whose body was discovered after police attended a property on Ken Churchill Drive, Horbury, earlier this week. Officers were attended following a report of concern for the safety of a woman at that address.
David Barraclough, 45, who lived at the home where Carolann’s body was found, has been charged with her murder. He has been remanded in custody and will appear before Leeds Magistrates Court on Monday, March 9.
Writing to the GoFundMe page, which has ha target of £2,000, Carolann’s sister wrote: “Caz was cruelly taken from us far too young. She was a much-loved mother, daughter, sister, cousin and friend. All funds raised will go towards giving her the beautiful send off she deserves and to her three children left without their mum.”

Since police named her, numerous people have paid tribute to Carolann on social media, with people sharing their sadness at hearing about her death. Commenting on the West Yorkshire Police Facebook page, one wrote: “RIP Carolann, wish we could of spent more time together, sleep tight sweetheart. Thinking of your mum and dad, brother sisters and your beautiful children.”
Another wrote: “Absolutely heartbreaking she had her whole life ahead sending my love to her family at this heartbreaking time.”
DCI Stacey Atkinson, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team at West Yorkshire Police, previously said: “Complex enquiries remain ongoing at Ken Churchill Drive and will be for a number of days as we investigate what has taken place there.

“Work to formally ID the woman found at the address remains ongoing, but we do think it is Carolann, and specially trained officers continue to support her family.
“We recognise this incident will cause concern locally and I can advise residents we are not seeking anyone else in connection with the matter.”
A police spokesman said on Saturday, March 7: “A man from Wakefield has been charged with the murder of a woman in Horbury.
“David Barraclough, aged 45, of Ken Churchill Drive, is charged with the murder of Carolann Barraclough, aged 37.
“Barraclough, who self-defines as white British, has been remanded into custody. He will appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on Monday 9 March.
“Enquiries into the murder remain ongoing by the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.”
A spokesman previously said: “Multiple enquiries remain ongoing today by detectives following the launch of a murder investigation in Horbury.
“Police attended at a property Ken Churchill Drive on Thursday 5 March after officers received a concern for safety report for a woman at an address there.
“Following searches, a woman’s body was located at the property.
“Although formal identity is yet to be confirmed, the person found is believed to be the woman who was named to officers as Carolann Barraclough, aged 37. “
