Prince William, who recently moved into his ‘forever home’ of Forest Lodge with his wife and three children, has sent a touching video message compelling young people to take time to remember fallen war heroes on Armistice Day.

Speaking directly to camera, the Prince of Wales urged young people to wear a red poppy in their honour, adding, ‘It’s not just about the past – it’s about shaping who we become in the future.’

‘Through my own military experience, as well as through my work in connection with units across the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force, I have seen firsthand the hard work, dedication and duty the Armed Forces carry out to ensure we are protected. Coming together for Remembrance is a vital way to honour those whose service keeps us safe.

‘Even today, as we continue to face a number of conflicts across the world, we honour those who have gone before us, and those who are serving now. Their memories matter, their lives matter, and they remind us to be respectful, kind, brave, and thoughtful every day.’

The video, which was broadcast as part of the Royal British Legion’s Remembrance Assembly on 11th November was recorded standing in the corner of a tastefully-decorated room, prompting some to speculate whether it is the first ever glimpse of the Waleses’ new ‘forever home’ of Forest Lodge.

Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis moved into their new Windsor Great Park home at the end of October and have been busy settling into family life in their new abode, which is just a short journey from their former home of Adelaide Cottage.

Acquired by the Crown in 1892, Forest Lodge is a Georgian pile that boasts marble fireplaces, plaster cornices, and a half-barrel-vaulted ceiling. Both the Prince and Princess of Wales will find something to love about the lodge: for football fan Prince William, there is a clear view of the Wembley Arches, while Wimbledon Patron (and keen tennis player) Catherine can practice her serves on the house’s private court. Forest Lodge underwent £1.5 million worth of refurbishments in 2001, and William and Kate carried out additional works ahead of the move.

The family were reportedly planning to settle into the eight-bedroom abode by Christmas time, but were able to bring forward the schedule and move in over the children’s half-term break. To thank members of staff who worked tirelessly on the project, the Prince and Princess of Wales threw a party at The York Club.

The Princess of Wales is said to have enjoyed putting her own stamp on the property. Sources have reported that Catherine has ‘thoroughly enjoyed’ masterminding the interiors of Forest Lodge, applying what MailOnline calls her ‘contemporary classic’ approach to design that she showcased at Adelaide Cottage and Kensington Palace. And while the eight-bedroom mansion that Kate and the family will remain in after Prince William becomes king is only down the road from Adelaide Cottage, it’s far bigger – leaving the Princess of Wales with a lot more rooms to work her magic.

The outlet says that Catherine, who is no doubt something of an interior design expert following her History of Art degree at the University of St Andrews, has been sourcing her decadent decorations from Marina Mill, a family-run business that produces hand-printed furnishings. The Princess was spotted visiting the Mill in September, and, considering how they have supplied fabrics to Buckingham Palace and Clarence House, they certainly know their way around a royal home.

There are, of course, plenty of other venues where the video might have been filmed, such as their Kensington Palace offices or the grand rooms of another royal residence. But it is enticing to imagine that this might be the first glimpse inside the Prince and Princess of Wales’ new home.
