Exclusive: Liverpool launch Premier League-record £130m Isak bid at Newcastle

Liverpool are submitting a Premier League-record £130million for Newcastle United star Alexander Isak, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds have denied that any official bid has been lodged for the Sweden international but it is believed that Arne Slot’s side have offered during preliminary talks to splash more cash following Florian Wirtz‘s £100m move to Anfield [BBC Sport].

The reigning Premier League champions have held a long-standing interest in the striker, and with 62 goals across 109 appearances since arriving at St James’ Park, it is no surprise as to why.

Despite winning the league, early exits from the Champions League and FA Cup left some supporters disappointed, and the manager has already also added Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong to the squad.

Alexander Isak faces uncertain Newcastle United future

Newcastle are already in a difficult predicament with Isak, given that the star striker has been on a lower wage for the last 12 months than he could have been on elsewhere.

It is also understood that talks over a new deal for the 25-year-old were shelved a year ago, with no major movement on proceedings by the Magpies, and concerns are growing amongst the fans.

Arne Slot to continue Liverpool rebuild at Anfield

Dutchman Slot has added a number of exciting talents to the squad, helping to reshape his lineup following a long and successful spell under Jurgen Klopp.

Isak’s signature looks to be the final piece of the puzzle at Anfield, with neither Darwin Nunez nor Luis Diaz able to hold down the centre-forward spot over the last couple of seasons.

Dan Plumley told Football Insider last month that Liverpool will be able to afford a mega-deal for Isak this summer, and that expectation looks to be coming to fruition now.

It remains to be seen if the Magpies will accept £130m for their greatest asset, with the club adamant about not selling, but it could be too much to turn down this summer.
