Former Chiefs 2-Time Super Bowl Champion Publicly Begs to Return to Kansas City After Brutal Steelers Release

Kansas City, MO – November 11, 2025
After being cut midseason by the Pittsburgh Steelers, a two-time Super Bowl champion and former Kansas City Chiefs defensive standout has made an emotional plea to
return home to Arrowhead — the place where his NFL journey began.
The veteran safety took to social media late Monday night with a heartfelt message directed at the Chiefs organization and their fans, writing:
“Kansas City made me who I am. I’d give anything to wear that red and gold again — just one more shot, one more chance to fight with my brothers.”

That player is Juan Thornhill, who spent four seasons in Kansas City and helped anchor the secondary during two championship runs. His message quickly went viral among Chiefs Kingdom, with thousands of fans urging GM
Brett Veach and head coach Andy Reid to “bring Thornhill home.”
Thornhill’s fall from stability has been dramatic. After leaving the Chiefs in 2023 for a lucrative contract with Cleveland, his production dipped before another short-lived stint in Pittsburgh ended with his release last week. He logged just 38 total tackles in nine games this season before being replaced by rookie
Sebastian Castro.
Despite his recent struggles, Thornhill remains beloved in Kansas City for his leadership, infectious energy, and clutch postseason moments — including his game-sealing deflection in the 2020 AFC Championship and his inspired performance in Super Bowl LVII.
As one former teammate told The Kansas City Star: “Juan was the heartbeat of that secondary. If there’s a spot open, he deserves a shot to finish where it all started.”
Now, Thornhill waits — hoping the Chiefs will answer the call and give him one last chance to wear the red and gold.
