Ball, 28, was floored by a devastating left hook from Figueroa with just minutes left on the clock.
He was bravely able to get off the canvas but failed to withstand the onslaught coming his way.
Following the fight, Ball was on the receiving end of hate online as people sent him unpleasant messages.
Some mentioned that it was “only a matter of time” before he lost while another stated “that’s how you take a title”.

Fury, 37, has leapt to the defence of Ball on social media as he posted a foul-mouthed rant targeting the haters.
He said: “This one is for all the haters out there and people who have no guts at all to get in a boxing ring and try it.
“You absolutely shameful embarrassment w*****s.
“Hating on people who try their best in life and go in there and fight a two-weight world champion and you try and give him stick.

“You pieces of rubbish, get in there and have a fight yourself you cowards.
“It is always a cowardly person who tries to hate on someone who is trying to do something they could only dream about doing.”
Fury also sent a message to Ball as he urged him not to give up and backed him to reclaim the title.
He added: “This is a message to Nick Ball.
“Fantastic fight mate, unlucky it is boxing and it happens. You win some and you lose some.
“Get some time off and a well-deserved rest and then get yourself back in the gym.
