All the latest Liverpool transfer news and rumours, including updates on Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Rodrygo and more
Liverpool’s have agreed personal terms with Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo
Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Hugo Ekitike after opening talks with Eintracht Frankfurt as the transfer window continues to heat up.
The Premier League champions have already completed plenty of business so far during the summer transfer window ahead of the defence of their top-flight crown.
Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez have all entered the fray but it appears that the Reds will not stop there after expressing an interest in Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
But their attention appears to have swung towards the former Paris Saint-Germain talisman.
Liverpool have already spent over £200m and the Reds show no sign of slowing down either, with recruiting a striker now their priority.
A centre-forward signing could coincide with the expected departure of Darwin Nunez. The potential for Luis Diaz to leave amid interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich would also appear to then strengthen links with Rodrygo.

Cristiano Ronaldo intervention
Diario AS believe Cristiano Ronaldo has stepped in and asked his club Al-Nassr to sign Luis Diaz.

Jarell Quansah on Liverpool exit
Jarell Quansah, who left Liverpool for Bayer Leverkusen earlier this month, has spoken to BILD about his move.
“I learned a lot at Liverpool, and I can’t thank everyone enough for that. But I’ve found my own path in football and am now ready for the next step,” he said.
“Leverkusen tried very hard to get me, it was very professional. It was clear to me that Leverkusen would be my first choice if I were to move. If you read the internet, you’ll find 100 rumors and 1,000 teams that are supposedly interested in you. As far as I’m concerned, there was only one team with serious intentions.”
On learning from Virgil van Dijk the 22-year-old added: “What he has is unique, the structure with which he plays. You can’t replicate everything. I can’t single anyone out because I’ve learned from all the defenders at Liverpool. I think they’re happy with my development. I hope I’ll reach their potential one day.”

Luis Diaz interest
In spite of Liverpool’s strong financial position this summer, Marca suggest Barcelona are hopeful that any more purchases will help push other players towards Anfield’s exit door and benefit them.
This is of course referring to Luis Diaz, who they hold and interest in and Bayern Munich have seen a bid rejected for.

Florian Wirtz’s father on Liverpool transfer
Florian Wirtz’s father, Hans-Joachim, who also acts as the German star’s agent, has been speaking to Der Spiegel about their choice to sign for Liverpool over Bayern Munich earlier this summer.
He said…
“Several clubs were interested, but in the end, Bayern and Liverpool were the only serious contenders.
“I couldn’t make any promises because Florian ultimately makes the decision. At the time [BILD reported he would join Bayern], it was still open. The situation with Bayern was difficult because Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge made an incredible effort and also clearly analyzed the sporting possibilities.
“We had spoken [with Hoeneß] several times before, so he was as objective and fair as I had come to know him. But of course he couldn’t hide his disappointment. After all, he had personally put a lot of effort into this transfer.
“Florian had this feeling, we understood it and supported him completely. We set ourselves a deadline for Thursday [after the secret meeting with Liverpool]. All three of us had the same perception and so we made the decision in favour of Liverpool together. Florian saw the move abroad as a new personal and sporting challenge and therefore chose Liverpool FC. We shared that view.
“You could say that [the conversation with Arne Slot was decisive]. Arne Slot was able to convince Florian on a sporting level. He is also a very pleasant person. Florian’s best coaches were always those who gave him a lot of freedom. And those with the greatest empathy have also reached Florian. He finds the game in England interesting because it thrives on pace and dynamism. Arne Slot presented his playing philosophy, the team tactics in possession and pressing, and how Florian can develop his strengths in it. That made a decisive impression on Florian. The training conditions in Liverpool were also totally impressive. Plus, Florian is now at a good age to move abroad. Once you have a family, you are no longer as independent.
“Vincent Kompany also had very good thoughts and ideas about how he wanted to integrate Florian into the Bayern Munich team. In the end, it was nuances that ultimately influenced the decision, which had to do with the different sporting situations and the role for Florian. And financially, there were no major differences between the two clubs anyway. Once again: Bayern Munich really tried hard, but a decision had to be
Jorrel Hato ‘expectation’
Spanish publication AS expect Liverpool to sign a defender, naming Ajax prodigy Jorrel Hato directly.
The young Dutch international has been linked with Chelsea most recently but also with the Reds during the recent season too as he was invited by close friend Ryan Gravenberch to come and watch a match at Anfield back in January.

Darwin Nunez shock link
Liverpool look to be moving fast on the striker transfer front this week and now it may have had the most unlikeliest of knock-ons to Darwin Nunez’s summer.
The Uruguayan was tipped to leave long before the window opened, now German publication BILD claim he is on the radar of Newcastle United now.
That would be a move totally out of left field with the suggestion being the Magpies have pulled out of interest in signing Hugo Ekitike now that he has agreed personal terms with the Reds. However, Eddie Howe and Co. are also being linked with Victor Osimhem, so it’s not as if Nunez is being named as their sole target now.
