Tennis legend Novak Djokovic is reportedly finalizing plans to relocate his family from Belgrade, Serbia, to Athens, Greece. The tennis star has been seen at a local tennis club and has found a school for his two children, Stefan, 10, and Tara, eight.

Djokovic and his son Stefan have already been spotted practicing at the Kavouri Tennis Club. The former world No. 1 is now searching for a suitable tennis club for his children, considering either Kavouri or the 91 Athens Riviera. Meanwhile, John McEnroe has made his feelings clear on Djokovic’s response to exiting the US Open.
This move comes amidst allegations that Djokovic has been targeted by the Serbian government following his support for student-led protests against Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic last December.
These protests were triggered by the tragic collapse of a railway station in Novi Sad, which resulted in the death of 16 people.
Djokovic publicly voiced his support for the protestors on social media last year, writing: “As someone who deeply believes in the power of youth and their desire for a better future, I believe it’s important that their voices are heard.
“Serbia has enormous potential, and its educated youth is its greatest strength. What we all need is understanding and respect. With you, Novak.”
The 38-year-old also dedicated one of his match victories at January’s Australian Open to a student who was struck by a vehicle during a demonstration.
Djokovic has not explicitly criticized President Vucic or the Serbian administration, but earlier this year, reports surfaced that he was allegedly looking to relocate his family to Greece through a Golden Visa program, which provides residency to non-EU nationals who make financial investments in the nation.
Novak Djokovic, one of the greatest tennis players of all time, is reportedly in the process of finalizing plans to relocate his wife and children to a new country. This news has generated significant attention, especially considering Djokovic’s immense fame and success. The decision to move to a different country is a major shift in the life of a globally recognized athlete, and it raises several questions about his personal and professional future.
Djokovic has long been a dominant figure in the world of tennis, with numerous Grand Slam titles under his belt. His career has seen him travel the world, competing in prestigious tournaments and making history on the court. However, this move suggests that Djokovic is looking to prioritize his family’s well-being and potentially lay down roots in a new environment that offers better opportunities for his loved ones.
The decision to move his family is not one taken lightly, particularly for someone with Djokovic’s level of fame. It is a complex choice that involves various factors, including the safety, quality of life, and educational opportunities for his children. Additionally, the choice of country may be influenced by his career trajectory, as Djokovic may want to position himself closer to key markets or training facilities as he looks toward the later stages of his career.
Moving to a new country also raises the possibility of a change in Djokovic’s professional landscape. Although he has established himself as a household name in the world of tennis, relocating could provide him with the chance to explore new ventures or endorsements in a different market. It could also give him a chance to relax and recharge in a fresh setting, which may be important as he continues to compete at the highest level in his sport.

The move could also signify a shift in Djokovic’s lifestyle outside of tennis. Known for his strict discipline and commitment to maintaining peak physical condition, the new environment may provide him with opportunities to explore new training methods, adopt healthier habits, or even engage in philanthropic work. It could also be a chance for him to connect with local communities in a way that he hasn’t been able to while constantly traveling for tournaments.
As Djokovic continues to dominate the tennis world, his personal life remains a source of public fascination. His family, including his wife Jelena and their children, has always been central to his journey, with Djokovic frequently speaking about the importance of their support. The decision to move them to a new country suggests a strong desire to provide them with the best possible environment to thrive and grow.
