Rory McIlroy finally has his green jacket.
The 35-year-old won the 2025 Masters on Sunday, defeating Justin Rose on the first hole of a playoff. It was his first time winning the tournament, and in doing so, he became the sixth player to have won all of golf’s majors.
This was also his first major championship win since he won the PGA Championship in 2014.
When it came time to celebrate, Rory knew just who to hug.
After he sunk the final putt, McIlroy was incredibly emotional.
He delivered several hugs.
Rory McIlroy enjoyed a special moment with his wife, Erica Stoll, and daughter, 4-year-old Poppy, right off the 18th green.
His longest hug was not with his wife, however.
Rory took down Justin Rose in a one-hole playoff on Sunday, but his wife was extremely classy as she shared a long hug with him.
“Rory gave Justin Rose’s wife maybe the longest hug of the day. Class,” By The Flagstick, shared on X.

Almost a year ago, the golfing world was shocked when McIlroy filed for divorce from his wife of seven years, Erica Stoll, just days before the US PGA Championship.
On the eve of the PGA Championship, Rory McIlroy submitted documents in Florida and described their marriage as “irretrievably broken.”
McIlroy’s wife Erica Stoll was served divorce papers by a private investigator while at their family home in 2024.
However, a month later, the couple announced they had “resolved differences” and wouldn’t be parting ways after all.
“Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together,” McIlroy said at that point. “Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
McIlroy’s triumph at the Masters was nothing short of a fairy tale in the world of golf.
His path to glory had some challenges, but it seemed to be all worth it.
