As Prince Andrew faces eviction from the Royal Lodge, his ex-wife, Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson, is reportedly “on the edge” regarding her own future.

The former Duchess of York, 66, “has nowhere to go – or anyone else to go with,” a source told the Daily Mail in an article published on Tuesday, October 28.

Reports claim that Andrew, 65, demanded two separate residences once he and his ex-wife leave the Royal Lodge — with the disgraced prince heading to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former home Frogmore Cottage, and Fergie taking Adelaide Cottage. Prince William and Princess Kate are currently in the process of moving from Adelaide.

Andrew and Fergie divorced in 1996, but have remained close over the years. In 2008, she moved in with Andrew in the Royal Lodge.

However, a source told the publication that Fergie — who insiders say is to be “absolutely bereft” and “completely on the edge” — is upset by claims that she and Andrew are the ones who made the demands, and instead said that the offer has “been on the table for months.”

“It was an option put forward by the ‘other side’ and at an early stage [in negotiations],” the source continued. “Whether it is still on the table, I don’t know. But the suggestion that they have been demanding a new home each is misrepresentative of the truth. No demands have been made. People have been trying to come up with solutions.”

Buckingham Palace has allegedly refused to comment on the claims.

The latest upheaval came after Andrew’s reputation was severely damaged by his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He stepped back from royal duties in 2019 following a disastrous BBC interview about the friendship and later settled a civil lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre in 2022. On October 17, he relinquished his royal titles due to the ongoing controversy regarding his connection to Epstein. (Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.)

Fergie, who dropped her royal titles when Andrew gave up his, was also drawn into the controversy when a 2011 email resurfaced in 2025 showing her calling Epstein an “extreme friend.”

A spokesperson for Fergie shared a statement to People addressing the reports about her email to Epstein: “The Duchess spoke of her regret about her association with Epstein many years ago, and as they have always been her first thoughts are with his victims. Like many people, she was taken in by his lies. As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with paedophilia. She does not resile from anything she said then. This email was sent in the context of advice the Duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats.”
