What began as a normal evening turned into a nightmare — and now, Brittany Mahomes is begging fans to step in and help a family left with nothing.
The wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took to Instagram on Thursday with a heartfelt message, urging her 2 million followers to donate to a local family whose home was completely destroyed in a devastating fire.
“A friend of ours’ neighbor just lost their home to a fire,” Brittany wrote in her story. “If you feel inclined to help, please do. A little goes a long way in times like these — anything helps!” 💔
🔥 The Fire That Changed Everything
According to a GoFundMe page set up for the victims — Brian and Jen — the tragedy unfolded when the couple briefly stepped out to return their food truck just a few miles from home.
Inside the house, their three children — Brayden (11), Maddox (9), and Rowan (7) — decided to make s’mores. Believing the small electric s’mores maker had cooled down, they tucked it away in the pantry and covered it with plastic.
Moments later, flames erupted.
Smoke filled the home within minutes, but Brayden’s quick thinking saved lives. The brave 11-year-old grabbed his younger siblings and the family dog, rushing them outside to safety before calling his parents in a panic.
“By the time we got back, everything was gone,” the parents later said through tears.
🚒 Neighbors, Panic, and a Race Against Time
Neighbors rushed to help — one tried to extinguish the blaze with a garden hose, but it was too late. The fire tore through the house with terrifying speed.
Firefighters arrived within minutes, but the damage was done. The family’s home — filled with memories, photos, and cherished belongings — was reduced to ashes.
They are now living in temporary housing, waiting on insurance to help them rebuild.
